Overview of Using Drupal: The Basics

In a one-time, 90 minute session, we present the basics of the Drupal content management system. An Overview of Using Drupal: The Basics focuses on various key aspects of Drupal to help answer the following:

  • What is Drupal?
  • Is Drupal right for me?
  • What do I need to use Drupal?
  • How do I get started using Drupal?
  • How do I manage a Drupal site?

This overview includes a brief introduction to some key contributed modules for Drupal as well as some information on creating a search engine optimized (SEO) Drupal website. In the space of 90 minutes, the Overview of Using Drupal: The Basics is not designed to delve heavily into add-on (community-contributed) modules for Drupal. However, at the end of the 90 minute online training session, you should know if you will be using Drupal for your project; understand the basics of how Drupal functions; and have some insight on how to put together your Drupal website.

Is this particular training session a good fit for me?: People in a variety of situations will find the Overview of Using Drupal: The Basics useful. Here are a few scenarios:

  • You've heard of Drupal but you really don't know anything about it beyond having heard the name somewhere
  • You've been told you should use Drupal, but you're not sure why it would be a good fit for you
  • You're an individual with a project in mind or you work for a company or organization
  • You're going to create a website or you already have a website and you want to be able to manage it on your own
  • You work for a company or organization and you've been asked to research Drupal as a solution
  • You've used Drupal a little but you feel a little overwhelmed by the system

Format of the Online Training Sessions

Online training sessions from Web New Castle are designed to be hands on. To make the best of use of these training sessions, you should be in front of a computer while on the training session conference call. At this time, we are not using a live screen cast because we want you to be able to click around on your own Drupal site without the distraction of watching a screen cast or video as we go through the session.

Prerequisites: None. If you already have a Drupal site, you are welcome to use your site during the training session. But you do not need to already have a Drupal installation set up. We will provide you with your own Drupal installation during the training session. We'll send you the information in advance so that you can be logged in when the training session begins.

The cost for this training class is $49 and a number of sessions are available.
